To the Legend who was Limitless
It is with appreciation for a tremendous human being that we come to you with very heavy hearts with the news of Paul "Kwame" Johnson's passing on January 19th.
Mr. Johnson worked with our team as a Consultant, Acting teacher, and Interim Artistic Director of S.T.E.P. Academics and Arts' Performing Arts Saturday School.
His greatest artistic legacy was as the Founder of Youth Theatre Interactions in Yonkers, NY. He was also active throughout his final days as the Creative Director of The Little Blue Room Theatre Company in Greenburgh, NY.
He leaves thousands of students whose lives he positively impacted, friends from all over the world, and a beautiful family who celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
Thank you, Mr. Paul Kwame Johnson, for everything. May your soul soar in peace.

Academic Excellence & Artistic Development
S.T.E.P. Academics and Arts transforms students’ thinking about themselves and their education by helping them to identify the undercurrent of their inability to thrive. We encourage students to face their obstacles, without fear, thereby enabling self advocacy.
WHO ARE WE?
We are an exceptional group of K-12 diverse educators and a powerful resource for classroom teachers who are responsible for teaching classes that contain both grade level and academically challenged student populations. Our tutors are non-judgmental, caring and effective!
95% of S.T.E.P. instructors are retired educators with over 20 years of experience. We have a team comprised of certified literacy and math specialists, Special Education teachers, data coaches, and former principals. This wealth of experience, and our on-site administrative teams, makes us unique from other tutorial services.
S.T.E.P. partners with school districts through the direction of principals to close the achievement gap of their identified students.
Academic Support Services
We are uniquely prepared to support schools academically by providing state certified instructors in the core content areas of Math and Literacy across the curriculum. We offer classroom support in small groups during the school day to identify students whose data pinpoints their specific gaps in achievement.
The principal selects our services based on their school’s academic goals and objectives.
We provide 1:1 online data based instruction to Grades K-12, afterschool and during the summer months.
Artistic Development
Arts offers students the opportunity to express themselves creatively in a safe non judgmental environment which releases pressure associated with trauma.
Studies have shown that students considered to be at “high risk” of dropping out of high school site drama and arts as their motivation for staying in school. Reading comprehension is dramatically increased.
The Performing Arts program is led by the Artistic Director. These classes are held on the weekends. By utilizing the performing arts as a unique method of delivering the building blocks of personal development, students receiving academic support services will study and perform plays (Reading Comprehension), study dance (Discipline), vocal music (Articulation, Enunciation, Tone), and behind-the-scenes technical skills that are associated with staged performances such as Set Design, Costume Design, and Make-up. Students become self-motivated and that transfers to the achievement of any goal.
